How to connect your league to the Matchup Tool

Connecting Your League to the Matchup Tool

How the Matchup Tool connects to your league differs from platform to platform. Fantrax works right out of the box with no extra setup. Yahoo requires the free EFB Draft Tracker Extension (same one used for the Draft Tracker). ESPN needs the extension for the Draft Tracker but NOT for the Matchup Tool. Public leagues connect directly, and private leagues just need two cookie values pasted in once.

Yahoo

Requires the free EFB Draft Tracker Extension (the same one you may already have installed for the Draft Tracker).

  1. Install the EFB Draft Tracker Extension from the Chrome Web Store (one-time setup, skip if already installed). Here is the link: EFB Draft Tracker Extension
  2. Make sure you’re signed into Yahoo in the same browser you’re using for the Matchup Tool.
  3. In the Matchup Tool, select Yahoo as your platform.
  4. Copy your league ID from your league’s URL and enter it into the League ID box. The League ID is the number that comes after /nba/ in the URL — it will look something like 12345.
  5. Click Load League. Your teams will populate the Team 1 / Team 2 dropdowns in the Choose Matchup panel below.
  6. Pick your two teams, set your date range, and click Build Matchup.

You don’t need a separate tab open. The extension can read your rosters in the background as long as you’re logged into Yahoo in that browser. Once the matchup is built, click Update Matchup anytime to pull in real stats for completed games and current injury statuses. You can name and save a matchup by entering the matchup name and pressing the Save as New button. This allows you to load a second matchup without losing the data from the first matchup. The tool also saves your matchup after every click and whenever you leave the page.

ESPN

No extension needed. Public leagues connect with just a League ID. Private leagues need two cookie values pasted in. This is a one-time setup per league.

For a public league:

  1. In the Matchup Tool, select ESPN as your platform.
  2. Copy your league ID from your league’s URL and enter it into the League ID box. The League ID is the number in the URL directly after leagueId=. It will look something like 899513.
  3. Enter the season year (2027).
  4. Click Load League, then pick your two teams and click Build Matchup.

For a private league, you’ll also need:

  1. While logged into ESPN Fantasy in Chrome, open Developer Tools (F12) while on your league’s home page. Go to the Application tab, and then click Cookies, which will be in the menu on the left. Look for fantasy.espn.com. It will be directly below Cookies.
  2. Find the cookies named espn_s2 and SWID, and copy their values into the matching boxes in the Matchup Tool. If you have problems with this step, please reach out. I will walk you through the process.

Once entered, click Update Matchup anytime to pull in real stats for completed games and current injury statuses. You can name and save a matchup by entering the matchup name and pressing the Save as New button. This allows you to load a second matchup without losing the data from the first matchup. The tool also saves your matchup after every click and whenever you leave the page.

Fantrax

The simplest to connect—no extension needed.

  1. In the Matchup Tool, select Fantrax as your platform.
  2. Copy your league ID from your league’s URL and enter it into the League ID box. The League ID is the number in the URL directly after /league/. It will look something like dei9ailamt7muzzf.
  3. Click Load League, then pick your two teams and click Build Matchup.

Once built, click Update Matchup anytime to pull in real stats for completed games and current injury statuses. You can name and save a matchup by entering the matchup name and pressing the Save as New button. This allows you to load a second matchup without losing the data from the first matchup. The tool also saves your matchup after every click and whenever you leave the page.
