Below average in Rebounds, Blocks, Turnovers
This is a pairing for those who want to throw caution to the wind and chase upside. This is obviously not a safe start, but that doesn’t mean it’s a dumb start. We’re trying to win a championship here, not finish fifth. When we pick at the end of the first, we have to take some risks at some point if we want to compete with the Jokic and Wembanyama teams. In punt FG%, this is an elite per-game start. Both players should end up as top-10 assets when FG% is ignored. This combination is elite in threes, assists, steals, and FT%. That makes this a great start from a category scarcity standpoint. It is also a combination that doesn’t force you to punt turnovers. LaMelo will be one of the largest drags on the category in the association, but Mitchell comes with a very respectable turnover rate for his usage and draft position. As is the case with all of the punt FG% pairing options available at the end of the first, this is a poor start in both rebounds and blocks.
