23/24 Week 3 Pickups

As expected, Week 2 was a much quieter week for pickups than Week 1. However, there were quite a few strong short-term adds that popped up, as well as some interesting long-term options that won’t win you your league but could end up as top-100 options or better in friendly builds. I’ve added a previous weeks’ pickup list to each pickup bucket this week. Instead of writing about the same players each week, I’ll be adding and removing previously discussed players from the lists. I’ll also be moving players up and down levels depending on how they play. For example, Jeremy Sochan got bumped down from the strong add bucket to the low-end standard league bucket after a quiet Week 2 and Dennis Schroder got promoted to the strong add bucket after a couple more big performances.

Standard League (12 Team) Strong Adds

Moe Wagner – With Wendell Carter now dealing with a fractured finger and potentially looking at a month or more on the sidelines, Wagner becomes this week’s top pickup. The Magic are now very thin at the five-spot and will likely have to give Franz’s brother 28+ MPG. That’s exciting news in the fantasy world because Wagner has the ability to produce a very useful line when given an extended look. He has a category league-friendly game because he has the ability to contribute something useful almost everywhere. In 2022-2023, he started 17 games. Over those 17 games, Wagner played 26.5 MPG and averaged 13.7 PPG on 50.9 FG%, 1.2 3PG, 6.8 RPG, 1.8 APG, and 1.0 SPG. That’s a line that all builds could use.
