24/25 ESPN Points League Top 150

These rankings are based on ESPN’s default points league scoring system. The scoring system is as follows:

  • FGM = 2
  • FGA = -1
  • FTM = 1
  • FTA = -1
  • 3PM = 1
  • REB = 1
  • AST = 2
  • STL = 4
  • BLK = 4
  • TO = -2
  • PTS = 1

Since the scoring system in points leagues is significantly different from the scoring system in category leagues, this Top 150 will look nothing like the category league Top 150s on this site. Team building does not matter in points leagues beyond making sure you have a player to fill each position on your roster. How a player generates his value does not concern us either and we don’t have to worry about category scarcity. In points leagues, all that matters is how many points a player generates and how many games they play. When coming up with these rankings, I took into consideration a player’s projected points using ESPN’s default scoring system, their durability, playoff schedule, upside, and floor.

I weighed durability heavier here than in the category league rankings because the difference between players tends to be smaller in points leagues. The 50th-ranked player will likely outscore the 75th-ranked player by only two or three points per night. Taking on an injury risk for an extra six to twelve points per week doesn’t make a lot of sense when your team will score well over 1,000 points each week. You’ll see plenty of injury-prone players ranked 20 or so spots below their per-game production. Focusing on durability is also important because you can’t recover from injuries like you can in points leagues. If we lose our fourth-round pick in a category league, that hurts, but we can still punt our way to victory. In points leagues, we’re out of luck. Due to the importance of availability, players on lottery-bound teams should also be valued below their per-game output on draft day.
